The mission of GENESIS HOMES is to revitalize low- to moderate-income neighborhoods in the Upstate of South Carolina.
Who We Are
Established in 2006, Genesis Homes seeks to facilitate neighborhood revitalization efforts in low-to–moderate income areas in the Upstate of South Carolina through the development of affordable rental housing. We are addressing the Upstate’s need for affordable housing by constructing quality-crafted homes for rent. Our mission also seeks to accomplish the revitalization of communities with minimal displacement of their current residents. The primary focus of Genesis Homes has been providing affordable rental housing with specific emphasis on families at or below 50% and 60% of the Area Median Income. In 2016, we expanded our efforts into Laurens, SC where we currently have multiple homes with more already under construction.
Genesis Homes is a certified Community Development Corporation (CDC) and a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit. We have earned Community Housing Development Organization certifications from the SC State Housing Finance and Development Authority and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. In 2012, Genesis Homes also received the Greater Greenville Association of Realtors Revitalization Award for nonprofits. Genesis Homes received the Housing Achievement Award for Creative Partnerships at the 2014 Palmetto Affordable Housing Forum, and finally, was the feature nonprofit in the July, 2014 edition of The Greenville Business Magazine. In 2017, Genesis Homes was honored as the winner of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce Max Heller Neighborhood Improvement Award.
